Porter Airlines announced yesterday (24 August 2023) their first flights to Florida, five routes from Toronto's Lester B. Pearson International Airport (YYZ) and two from Ottawa's Macdonald-Cartier International Airport (YOW). All seven routes will be flown with Embraer E195-E2 aircraft which precludes use of Porter's hub at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport with its 3,988-ft (1,216-m) runway.

The first of the new routes will launch on 1 November 2023, with a late-afternoon flight from Toronto to Tampa, with an overnight layover before returning the next day. Toronto to Ft. Myers will start nine days later on a similar schedule.

On 21 November 2023, service to Orlando will start from both Toronto and Ottawa. A noon departure from Toronto will turn to a late-afternoon return to Ottawa while the flight from Ottawa will overnight before returning to Toronto. At the end of the month, Toronto/Ottawa to Ft. Lauderdale will start with a similar W pattern.

Finally, Toronto to Miami will start on 12 December 2023 with an overnight before returning to Toronto.

Today's Featured Map shows Porter's new service to Florida. Mr. Porter donned a Florida-themed tie to celebrate the occasion!
