Monday morning's British Airways flight from London City Airport to Düsseldorf (BA 3271), operated by WSL Aviation using a BAe 146-200, ended up flying to Edinburgh instead. Somehow, the flight was planned to Scotland's capital so neither the pilots nor cabin crew were surprised (unlike the passengers), nor was there any safety risk, nor nefarious characters as in Alfred Hitchcock's classic film North by Northwest. After refueling, the flight continued to the passengers' expected destination in Germany.
Today's Featured Map shows the scheduled route of this flight in grey, along with its circuitous route via Scotland in red. Hopefully the passengers received frequent flier credits for the extra distance flown!
