Earlier today, the first of nine Embraer E190-E2 aircraft was delivered to Scoot, a low-cost subsidiary of Singapore Airlines. Wearing temporary registration PR-EEW, the aircraft (leased from Azorra) is named Explorer 3.0 since the E190-E2 is the third type in Scoot's current fleet, in addition to the Airbus A320 family and the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. (Scoot started with six Boeing 777 aircraft transferred from its parent but the airline hasn't operated the 777 for over eight years.)

The E190-E2 has an advertised range of 2,600 nmi (4,815 km) with a full passenger load and typical reserves. For an empty ferry flight, the range is significantly greater, but still not nearly enough for a flight from the factory at São José dos Campos to Singapore. The planned trip< started Friday with a stop at Recife before the trans-Atlantic crossing to Las Palmas. At the point of equal time (PET) of this segment the aircraft was nearly 120 minutes from a suitable alternate airport. Although the E190-E2 has ETOPS-120 certification, a ferry flight needn't operate under ETOPS rules.

Next, the trip continued to Athens, skirting along the Mediterranean coast of Algeria. After Athens, the original plan included stops at Dubai and Hyderabad before continuing to Singapore. Airspace closures stemming from Iranian attacks on Israel resulted in a more northern route to Hyderabad via Baku. An additional stop at Phuket was added after Hyderabad, possibly for a crew change after the lengthened trip from Athens.

Today's Featured Map illustrates this delivery flight, with the original plan in grey and the final routing in Scoot's yellow. (See the FlightAware link in the references for the actual flight paths.)
